Integrated Industrial Design

INTEGRATED INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

I usually collaborate with industrial plant engineering EPC / EPCM contractors and maintenance engineering carrying out the following specialistic activities based on main international standards and codes:

  • Thermal, static and dynamic piping systems analysis (piping stress analysis) by classical methods and/or FEA;
  • Water hammer analysis and/or in conditions of solid bodies detachment inside pipelines;
  • Pressure vessels design and verification by classical approach and/or FEA;
  • Flange analysis (by Taylor Forge method, EN 13445, EN 1591 etc.);
  • Maintenance planning and technical asset management engineering (as per ISO 55000) also applied to revamping and/or remanufacturing;
  • Pressure equipment conformity verification and technical files ( Directive 2014/68/UE, TPED Directive 2010/35/UE, SPV 2014/29/UE);
  • Checking of valves and safety devices for overpressure protection (PSV);
  • Sizing and verification of metallic carpentry structures, flat or in elevation (modules, skids, racks, etc.);
  • Sizing and verification of mixed structures (in steel and concrete) for industrial use;
  • Design of chimneys and torches, both onshore and offshore;
  • Industrial supports in relation to the foundations loads;
  • Verification of structures assembly, lifting equipment and transport appliances;
  • Conformity verification of lifting machines, equipment and accessories (by Machinery Directive 2006/42/CE and/or new Machinery Regulation);
  • Design of modified containers, equipped for industrial use;
  • Mechanical components verification with non-destructive methods (NDT) in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano;
  • Plant revamping with technical-bibliographic research and on-site inspections.

  Integrated industrial design is one of my core professional skills. Would you like more information on this?

  Directive 2014/68/EU PED

DIRECTIVE 2014/68/UE PED

By Alessandro Negrini | April 06, 2018

Linked to pressure equipment devices safety and free trade in Europe, the PED Directive is – even today – a source of doubts and controversies that requires qualified specialistic assistance to allow its application together with other international relevant regulatory sources.

LASER SCANNING AND AND INTEGRATED DESIGN

By Alessandro Negrini | January 30, 2023

Although laser scanning technologies have a consolidated history behind them, the last decade has been accompanied by the optimization of activities and processes that have been able to offer a new impetus to a sector traditionally linked to topographic and architectural survey, also affecting integrated engineering with particular regard to revamping and regulatory adaptation of resources otherwise destined for disposal.

LOGISTICS AND INTEGRATED DESIGN

By Alessandro Negrini | January 04, 2023

Are industrial design and logistics really two distinct areas with irreconcilable goals and priorities? In this article, I delve into the new needs of an engineering market aimed at solving the important contingencies of the last five years, making it necessary to find effective tools to overcome this separation in an increasingly integrated perspective.

  New Machinery Directive and TU 81/08

NEW MACHINERY DIRECTIVE AND TU 81/08

  February 23, 2023, 10:00 - 13:00 AM

There is a great deal of attention paid to new technologies (IIoT 4.0 and AI, above all), but what applications will these tools have in the mechanical-industrial sector and - above all - how will they affect occupational safety? On February 23rd I've deepened this topic in relation to the new EU Machinery Regulation during a FAD seminar in collaboration with FOIM.
